A backyard kitchen is the best way to turn your house into an entertaining mecca. To illustrate this, we’d like to share one of our recent projects where we built a premium al fresco cooking area for BBQ Island customer Kevin Alexander in Chandler, AZ. Kevin is thrilled with how his new kitchen turned out, and so are we! Take a look and get inspired by what you can do in your own backyard.
Blurring the Lines Between Indoors and Out
Kevin's backyard kitchen is designed in a sheltered location. The permanent roof provides shade from the Arizona sun, while the open archways to the patio allow for fresh air and natural light. The semi-sheltered space allows for wiring interior-style lighting over the counter area and the addition of a ceiling fan for comfort. Because of the full ceiling, a vent hood was required, so we outfitted Kevin with a 42-inch insert powerful enough to remove all the smoke and grease that come with outdoor grilling to keep his kitchen fresh and clean.
A Full-Service Grilling Station
Kevin loves to entertain in his new kitchen, and serving up his favorite chicken and steak dishes for a crowd is no trouble with this carefully considered design. His outdoor kitchen’s show stopper is the 56-inch Alfresco Standard Grill with Sideburner, which he installed over a BBQ Island 36-inch Single Door with 2 Drawer Combo to provide lots of storage. To the left of the grill is a handy sink installed over a BBQ Island 24 x 17 Horizontal Access Door in the same great stainless steel finish you see throughout the room.
For serving up a cool drink along with a piping hot plate of meat, he installed a BBQ Island 15 x 24 Drop-In Cooler with Speed Rail and another BBQ Island Access Door under the cooler to complete the look. Inside the cooler is a handy condiment tray to keep burger toppings and other garnishes cool and crisp!
